I was so excited to work on this painting. Rebecca is an old student of mine and I am so proud of how well her and her horse, Marshall have worked together. She loves to dress him in lime green so I knew that I had to use lime for the background. Of course that color did not want to cooperate at all!
I used liquitex colors: vivid lime green, titanium white, phthalo blue. Every pour came out BLUE! After several attempts I was somewhat satisfied with a few pours.
Once the canvas dried the lime looked even weaker but I decided to paint Rebecca and Marshall anyway with hopes that the markers would suffice. This was my first attempt at painting the human figure since college and I as pretty nervous. Fortunately, it wasn't as difficult as I had anticipated.
After completing horse and rider, I used Uni Posca markers in apple green and blue to add some details in the background.
Overall, I was happy with what started out as a difficult piece. Rebecca loves her new painting so the story of this piece has a happy ending.
Thank you so much for visiting my page. I know I still have a lot of work to do but I am working on it. I am a mom of two boys, a 3 month old and another who will be two in March. I have a full time job that I seriously love to go to every day. Aside from family and career, I own a beautiful 19 year old thoroughbred mare, three dogs, and five hens.
I have always been a painter and I have been showing my work in galleries for about six years. Currently, I am trying to widen my methods of sharing art by participating in festivals and using more social media. Instagram and Facebook are great ways to discover new artists as well as promote my work, but I must admit that I would rather be painting than promoting!
